Every year the museums at Court End, the area around the court buildings and City Hall, band together to give Richmond a gift for the holidays. This Sunday from 12:00-5:00pm is the 21st Annual Court End Christmas, when everyone is invited for FREE admission and transportation to 9 historic sites:
- The John Marshall House
- Historical Richmond Foundations’ Monumental Church
- Valentine Richmond History Center & Wickham House
- Museum and White House of the Confederacy
- St. John’s Church
- The Beers House
- The Egyptian Building
- Virginia State Capitol
- Hunton Student Center

I have been able to attend the event for the past couple of years, and it’s always nice to see the bustle of families enjoying the historic sites and the Christmas atmosphere, especially with the period costumes and all of the decorations. Enjoy!
These days I appreciate free things to do an awful lot. More importantly, its great to see Richmond continuing to highlight its rich history and provide means for everyone to see it, and give a taste so that people know to go see it more often.
I often think that many people know we have history and culture here, but not so many know how much effort and resources have gone into showcasing that history. Richmond has so much art and history and music. Sometimes when you live in a place you forget how beautiful it is.
Speaking of arts and culture, there is an interesting film event at the bird coming up on the 17th you may want to make your readers aware of.
The rich historical heritage was emphasized in the Crupi Report, too. I compeletely agree that there we have a huge advantage and a great base to work from here in Richmond. It’s good to see events that highlight it.
As for not appreciating the beauty of your hometown, I’ve recently been making the effort to “rediscover” parts of Richmond — i.e., the canal walk.
